COCIR is the voice of the European Radiological, Electromedical and Healthcare IT Industry. COCIR is a non-profit trade association, founded in 1959. COCIR’s members play a driving role in developing the future of healthcare in Europe and worldwide. COCIR is committed to supporting its members and communicating with its partners in Europe and beyond on issues which affect the medical technology sector and the health of European citizens.

As well as communicating with EU policymakers and European Governments on economic, regulatory and technical issues related to healthcare, COCIR works with various organisations to promote harmonised standards and fair regulatory control across the world. The European Health Telematics Association (EHTEL) contributes to the implementation of information and communication technologies in the health and social sector. EHTEL believes that eHealth tools offer substantial benefits for improving quality of health for patients and citizens, access to services, efficiency of care and cost effectiveness.

EHTEL offers a platform to all stakeholders of eHealth to exchange information, identify problems and find solutions for the implementation of its goals. It realises these aims through networking, conferences, workshops and specific task forces.

HINE (Health Information Network Europe): For effective implementation of eHealth, buyers and sellers of ICT products and services require access to definitive and reliable market information on which to base critical investment decisions.

The Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) represents about 2 million doctors. Members are the National Medical Associations of the EU/EFTA countries. CPME aims to promote the highest standards of medical training and medical practice in order to achieve the highest quality of healthcare for all citizens of Europe.


 The European Health Management Association is a network of health organisations throughout Europe. EHMA’s objective is to improve health through better management.

EHMA brings together practitioners, researchers and academics to share information on healthcare management and management development. EHMA advises international agencies and national and regional governments on management development strategies. EHMA has close working links with the World Health Organization, the European Commission, the European Parliament, OECD, and the World Bank.

HOPE is European Hospital and Healthcare Federation. Created in 1966, it gathers national hospital federations and other national federation of owners of hospitals, both public and private. As an international association, its mission is to promote improvements in the health of citizens throughout the countries of the EU and a uniformly high standard of hospital care and other healthcare throughout the EU.


About the Organising Committee

The Organising Committee participates in setting the strategic direction of the conference and education programme.  Organising Committee members include the European Commission (EC), Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), with the European Institute for Health Records (EUROREC) serving as the European Secretariat.  In addition, the European Coordination Committee of the Radiological, Electromedical and Healthcare IT Industry (COCIR), European Health Telematics Association (EHTEL) and Health Information Network Europe (HINE) serve as organising committee members.  Other organisations serving as advisory bodies under the European Commission include:  Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME), European Health Management Association (EHMA) and European Hospital and Healthcare Federation (HOPE).
