Following the initial health care reform in the early 1990s, Hungary collected enormous amounts of information on all hospital and outpatient cases. In spite of data quality problems, this database is of very high value, since the monolithic health insurance system guaranteed a relative high stability of the data. The ongoing dispute and current health insurance reform plans talk about a pluralistic health insurance system.
